Gengdian is a static multilingual dictionary site. This page says what we collect, where the text comes from, and who owns the pictures.
Cookies and data
Gengdian sets no cookies of its own and stores nothing in your browser. Your language is not remembered in a cookie — it is part of the URL (/zh, /en, …). There is no profiling and no third-party analytics. The server keeps ordinary access logs (IP, time, path, user agent) for debugging and abuse prevention, and shares them with nobody. If advertising is switched on later, the ad provider (Google AdSense) may set cookies in your browser to serve and measure ads; you can turn off personalised ads in Google's Ad Settings.
Where the text comes from
Every entry is written by a large language model from public sources (Wikipedia, Wikidata, the Google Trends RSS feed, Urban Dictionary). Models get things wrong: dates, origins and attributions may be inaccurate. Treat Gengdian as a starting point, not as an authority — each entry links its sources, and anything that matters should be checked there.
Images
Pictures are hot-linked only from Wikimedia Commons, and the credit and licence (usually CC BY-SA) are printed under each one. If you hold rights to an image and want it removed, reach us on Discord below.
